Urbafresh is convinced that operations similar to Local Greens is the wave of the future. We highlighted in our last few blog entries the serious situation precipitated by the drought in California. Local Greens provides ultra fresh, locally grown produce with 1% of the water and in 2% of the space vs conventional growing methods. The freshest produce, or shall we now call it the localest also !!! (thanks to Dr Nate Storey who coined the term)
Just when we thought we were done talking about the drought, NASA releases this startling, no troubling picture of what the drought is doing to water supplies and possible impacts on global food production and security.

The article highlights that the problem is just not the US, but global in scope. We believe that we have a tool that can help but not solve this pressing problem. There will have to be more resources and technologies, this reality will not wait ....
